California is a cross-country haul — six days by road, or about $4,000 by commercial air freight from Miami or Atlanta into Los Angeles or San Francisco. Air is more humane for older horses and only marginally more expensive once you factor in the longer road insurance and shipper rest fees. We have placed horses in Southern California, Bay Area, and Sacramento Valley.

- Two options: a six-day commercial road haul (~$2,500–$3,200) with five overnight stops, or commercial air freight from Miami or Atlanta into LAX, SFO, or ONT (~$3,500–$4,000). For older horses, we recommend air.
- How long does the road haul take?
- Six days, with overnight stops typically in Mobile (AL), Lake Charles (LA), San Antonio (TX), El Paso (TX), and Phoenix (AZ). Long, but well-managed by experienced cross-country shippers.
- Is California a good market for Friesians?
- Yes — Southern California in particular has a strong Friesian community, with several active KFPS-registered breeders and a growing dressage circuit. Many buyers in the LA basin also fly directly to Wellington for a viewing trip.
